PROSPECT — Region 16 awarded about $5,490 to fund 11 innovative grant proposals for teachers in the district.

The innovative grant initiative, which was approved by the Board of Education in 2012, provides grants annually to teachers to fund projects that support instructional activities that fall outside of the curriculum. Teachers apply for the grants, and those approved receive funds through the school budget.

The grant proposals funded this school year include $650 to buy alternative and flexible seating for second-graders at Laurel Ledge Elementary School, $489 for an archery program at Long River Middle School and $639 to purchase five Osmo-Genius starter kits for iPads for first-graders at Prospect Elementary School.
