NAUGATUCK — A month after deadlocking on a vote to elect a vice chairman, the Board of Education elected Democrat Jason Celozzi, 5-3, to serve in the role at its Dec. 12 meeting.

Celozzi, 43, is in his third term on the school board.

Republican Dorothy Neth-Kunin, the former chairman, was also nominated last week for vice chairman. The two were nominated for the position in November, when the board deadlocked 4-4 three times.

In November, Celozzi voted for Neth-Kunin. Last week, he voted for himself to break the tie. Board members Diana Malone, Marilyn O’Donnell, Glenn Connan and Jeffrey Litke also supported him.

Board members Ethel Grant and James Scully supported Neth-Kunin, who also voted for herself.
