PROSPECT — The town received a work zone safety equipment package and safety training for free through a state program.

The Training and Technical Assistance Center at the University of Connecticut and the state Department of Transportation partnered on a new work zone safety program, which is designed to make work zones on or along roads safer.

Through the program, four of the town’s public works employees received work zone safety training and become certified to direct traffic at work zones. The town also received a package with 44 pieces of equipment, including traffic cones, reflective traffic signs, safety vests and hard hats, to be used at work sites.
