NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck YMCA is re-opening a site for its before and after-school child care program for the coming school year.

Naugatuck YMCA Director of Operations Sherri Beck said the YMCA is re-opening Andrew Avenue Elementary School as one of the program’s sites. The other site for the program is Western Elementary School.

The program is a licensed program that provides care to Naugatuck schoolchildren through eighth grade. The program runs from 7 a.m. until school starts in the morning and from dismissal until 6 p.m. in the afternoon.

The Western Elementary School site, which has 48 spaces, will be for Western students only, Beck said. Andrew Avenue Elementary School will be used as the site for all other children, she said, and there are 72 spaces open at Andrew Avenue.

The YMCA received donations from the Naugatuck Rotary Club and the Liberty Bank Foundation this year for the program. The funds will be used to buy Chromebooks and financial assistance for eligible families, Beck said.

The program cost is $60 a week for before school, $85 a week for after school and $145 a week for before and after school. Registration has to be done by Aug. 15 for those looking to attend the program on the first day of school. Children who are registered after Aug. 15 will be able to attend starting the second day of school.
