PROSPECT — Region 16 is holding a celebration on Friday to mark the school district’s 50th anniversary.
The celebration is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Long River Middle School, 38 Columbia Ave. The event kicks off with a ceremony, including remarks from local officials and dignitaries and the presentation of plaques to commemorate the anniversary.
After the ceremony, there will be activities for children and food trucks until 1 p.m. The event will also feature a performance by Long River music students.
Region 16 oversees public schools in Beacon Falls and Prospect. The region formed in 1969.
