NAUGATUCK — The Board of Mayor and Burgesses Aug. 6 approved spending up to $20,000 to upgrade the municipal and Naugatuck Police Department’s websites.

Information Technology Director Jim Kallipolites said the borough received a quote from QScend Technologies, Inc. of Waterbury for the work. The borough already uses the company to host its website as well as storage services.

Kallipolites said the upgrade will include better search capabilities and responsive webpage design, which automatically resizes a webpage to fit the screen of the device a person is using.

Officials requested funds in the 2019-20 budget for the upgrade, but the Board of Finance cut it from the budget. Mayor N. Warren “Pete” Hess said the money for the upgrade will come from a fees collected by the Town Clerk’s Office. The fund has about $83,000 in it, he said.
