NAUGATUCK — The Zoning Commission has set a hearing on a special permit application for a new car wash on New Haven Road for its July 17 meeting.

The commission in June accepted the application from Dan Camacho of Naugatuck and referred it to the Planning Commission. According to the application, the plan is to demolish a residential building that is in disrepair at 1015 New Haven Road and build a car wash on the 0.72-acre lot, which is at the corner of Weid Drive and New Haven Road.

The land is in the New Haven Road Design District, which was created in 2007 in order to promote mixed-use development in the district.

The site plan shows the exit and entrance to the car wash will be on New Haven Road. The application states the car wash would take six months to build and the project is estimated to cost $875,000. The car wash would be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and have five employees, the application states.
