PROSPECT — The math lab at Woodland Regional High School is now a permanent fixture at the school.

The Region 16 Board of Education May 22 approved making Carissa Richardson a permanent certified math teacher. Richardson has been working on a yearly-contract basis the past two years to help staff the school’s math lab, which is open during and after school.

Officials started the math lab at the beginning of the 2017-18 school year to help students improve in the subject.

“We think it’s done wonders,” Superintendent of Schools Michael Yamin said.

The board funded the position through a grant last school year and this one. Starting July 1, the position will be permanently part of the school budget. Yamin said the position will be funded through federal Title I funds.
