NAUGATUCK — Mayor N. Warren “Pete” Hess and his dog, Beaumont, may find themselves in “jail” — figuratively speaking — if they don’t raise $3,000 by the start of the borough’s fireworks celebration next week.

Hess and Beaumont are collecting the “bail” money as a fundraiser for the Naugatuck Historical Society’s capital campaign. The money will help the society create new exhibits for the Naugatuck History Museum at the Tuttle House. Hess, who is a member of the society’s board of directors, has until the ION Bank/Naugatuck Fireworks Celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. July 3 to raise the money or he will have to spend some time in the historical society’s “jail” during the festival.

Donations can be made via checks made payable to “Naugatuck Historical Society” and mailed to P.O. Box 317, Naugatuck, CT 06770. Donations can also be dropped off at the mayor’s office in Naugatuck Town Hall, 229 Church St. Indicate in the memo section of checks that it is for “Mayor Hess’s bond.”

Donations can also me made online at www.naugatuckhistory.org.
