NAUGATUCK — School officials are looking for the next principal of Andrew Avenue Elementary School after Taran Gruber left to take a job in Windsor.

The Windsor Board of Education appointed Gruber, who worked as principal at Andrew Avenue for nine years, the new principal for Oliver Ellsworth School on June 10, a news release stated. During Gruber’s time at Andrew Avenue, the state Department of Education recognized the school as a “school of distinction” in two different years.

Gruber worked as assistant principal at Oliver Ellsworth School before coming to Naugatuck, the release stated.

“I am thrilled to be coming back to Windsor, a town with incredible pride, diversity and history,” Gruber said in the release.

Naugatuck Public Schools posted the open principal position last week. The application period is scheduled to close July 1. Naugatuck Superintendent of Schools Sharon Locke did not return a message seeking comment.
