BEACON FALLS — The Beacon Hose Firemen’s Carnival and Parade is set for its 56th year.

The carnival, a tradition that dates back to 1963, is Beacon Hose Co. No. 1’s largest fundraiser with proceeds going to benefit programs and community events sponsored by the volunteer department, youth sports teams, scholarships, those in need in the community, and the department.

The festivities kick off June 13. For information, visit www.beaconhose.com.

WHEN & WHERE: The carnival is open June 13 from 6 to 10 p.m., June 14 from 6 to 11 p.m. and June 15 from 3 to 11:30 p.m. at the firehouse, 35 North Main St.

FOOD & DRINK: The grills, deep fryers and The Seafood Pit will be fired up once again for those looking to indulge with some deep fried Oreos, a steak and cheese sandwich or a lobster dinner. The menu this year will feature some new treats, including fried French toast sticks and mac and cheese bites. People 21 years old and older can enjoy domestic drafts, craft beers, margaritas or a sangria.

ENTERTAINMENT: The parking lot of the firehouse will be filled with rides and games for the young and young at heart alike. For those looking to sit back and relax and enjoy some tunes or a show, the carnival has them covered as well. Each night will feature live performances on the Liberty Bank Main Street Stage in front of the firehouse and the Riverview Backstage — which is new this year — on Volunteer Park behind the firehouse. The first night of the carnival will feature Jimi Jam and The Rehabs on the Main Street Stage and Jim Sisti for two interactive magic shows on the Riverview Backstage. On June 14, Just Below Me will be performing on the main stage. On the Riverview Backstage, 3 O’Clock Losers — a band made up of Woodland Regional High School students — will perform followed by a show by Daniel GreenWolf: Celtic Magician after sunset. The final day of the carnival features Hazzard County on the main stage and a performance by the Beacon Falls Youth Theater Group on the backstage.

DUNK TANK: People can take a crack at dunking Woodland teachers and students to help raise some money. The Woodland classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022 will each get a night running the dunk tank with the proceeds benefiting their class.

RAFFLE: Beacon Hose is running a raffle with cash prizes. The grand prize is $10,000. Tickets are $20 each — until they are sold out — and can be purchased at the firehouse or online at www.beaconhose.com. The drawing is June 15 at 9:30 p.m.

PARADE: The annual firemen’s parade, which is expected to draw about 50 marching units from around the state, steps off on June 15 at 6 p.m. at Route 42 and South Main Street, then heads to the firehouse for the final night of the carnival.
