BEACON FALLS — Police are searching for a man that robbed the Liberty Bank in town Tuesday afternoon.

Troopers from Troop I in Bethany and Beacon Falls officers responded to the bank at 127 South Main St. at about 1:30 p.m. Police said the suspect, described as possibly a light-skinned Hispanic or white male wearing a dark-colored North Face brand jacket, a dark-colored knit-style cap and eyeglasses, walked into the bank and demanded money from a teller.

The teller gave the man an unknown amount of money, police said, and he fled the bank in an unknown direction. The man didn’t display or suggest he had any weapons, police said.

As of 3 p.m., police were on the scene and searching for the man. A police K-9 was brought in to help track the suspect.

Detectives from the Central District Major Crime Squad were responding to the scene to assist in the investigation, police said.

Police asked anyone with information to contact Troop I at 203-393-4200.
