NAUGATUCK — The borough plans to pave 34 roads this year.

The Board of Mayor and Burgesses earlier this month approved a plan to move forward with paving 13 roads this spring and summer and an additional 21 roads this fall.

The paving is part of a five-year, multi-million dollar effort to improve roads in Naugatuck.

According to a document from Public Works Director James Stewart, the work for 2019 is expected to cost a total $1.63 million.

The plan includes about $158,000 to pave Beacon Valley Road, $154,000 for Hillside Avenue and $141,000 for Church Street. The paving schedule also includes the Town Hall parking lot.

In addition to the roads on the list, reconstruction work on Cross Street and North Main Street is expected to begin this year. Cross Street will be paid almost completely through state and federal grants. The North Main Street project will be paid completely through a state grant.
