NAUGATUCK — Maria (Spevak) Waage, 86, widow of Lawrence Waage Sr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the VITAS Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital.
She was born in Slovakia on March 29, 1932, daughter of the late Stefan and Anna Spevak. Maria was a longtime Naugatuck resident, and had worked as a seamstress for many years while living in New York. A woman that was full of life, she truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Maria is survived by her children, Stephanie Kerrigan and her husband, Michael, of Denville, N.J., Lawrence Waage Jr., and his wife, Margeret, of Marietta, Ga., and Paul Waage of Naugatuck; her two grandsons, Connor and Christopher Waage; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in Linden Hill Cemetery, Ridgewood, N.Y. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
