NAUGATUCK — The number of Naugatuck High School students enrolled in University of Connecticut Early College Experience courses more than doubled from the 2017-18 school year to this school year.

UConn ECE courses give students an opportunity to take college-level courses for both high school and college credit. In 2017-18, 22 Naugatuck High students were enrolled in UConn ECE courses, according to information provided by the Naugatuck school district. That figure grew by 136 percent to 52 students this school year, which ranks in the top ten of high schools in the state for highest percentage enrollment growth from 2017-18 to 2018-19.

The 2019-20 program of studies at Naugatuck High includes three new UConn ECE courses: biology, physics and United States history.
