NAUGATUCK — The Zoning Commission last month approved an application for a new auto parts store.
The application from Kelsey Gaines, Hutton ST 17, LLC, out of Tennessee is to build a 7,240-square-foot O’Reilly’s Auto Parts at 112 Bridge St. The commission also approved three waivers for the plan, including reducing the required number of parking spots from 49 to 36.
Peter Kaiko, a design engineer with Solli Engineering, LLC, told the commission the firm has designed a number of O’Reilly’s Auto Parts stores and found the maximum number of cars in the parking lot at any time is about 12.
According to the property card, the entire lot is about 3.3 acres and owned by The Eastern Company. The auto parts store is planning to buy just over an acre at the corner of Bridge and School streets.
The project is expected to cost $1.2 million, including the building and site upgrades, and the store will employ 25 full and part-time employees when it’s finished, the application states.
