BEACON FALLS — The town’s search for a finance manager continues after its top candidate took another job.

Thomas Thompson started as the town’s finance manager in July. However, a couple months later, the town decided not to continue his contract past the probationary period and began searching for another finance manager.

The town narrowed the search down to a “preferred candidate,” but First Selectman Christopher Bielik said the person took a job with another town and Beacon Falls could not match the salary that town offered.

Bielik said the town is in the process of collecting resumes and will shortly hold another round of interviews. He expects the town to have a new finance manager by the end of the year.

As long as the new finance manager has the right amount of experience, Bielik said there should not be too much of a learning curve as the town heads into the planning for the 2019-20 budget.
