BEACON FALLS — The Beacon Falls Public Library underwent a few cosmetic renovations last week.
The library, which is on the third floor of Town Hall on Maple Avenue, was closed last Wednesday and Thursday while work was done to paint and install new flooring in the hallway. The carpet in the children’s room of the library was also replaced.
Library Director Sue Dowdell said the tiles in the hallway were cracking and falling apart. Town custodians replaced some of the damaged tiles, she said, but they were falling apart very fast.
The carpet in the children’s room was over 20 years old, Dowdell said.
Finance Assistant Erin Schwarz said the project cost $4,500 and the town will be reimbursed under the state’s Local Capital Improvement Program.
The painting was a continuation of painting previously done throughout Town Hall, Dowdell said.
The painting cost $600 and was paid for out of the town’s budget, Schwarz said.
