John Francis Swan

NAUGATUCK — John Francis Swan, 84, of Naugatuck, formerly of Ansonia and Shelton, entered the gates of heaven on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018 after a brief illness, at Waterbury Gardens in Waterbury.

Mr. Swan was born in Seymour on June 12, 1934, son of the late Edward Albert Swan Sr. and Hilda Ann (Smith) (Swan) Waldron.

Mr. Swan loved to give back to his community. During his retirement, Mr. Swan, in his free time, would cook lunch at the senior housing, host parties at the community center, plant gardens, and assist residents in his housing community.

Mr. Swan enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, cooking and bowling. He had a love for animals. He was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Mr. Swan leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Barbara Wild and her husband, Kerry, of Naugatuck, and Charlotte Swan of Massachusetts; two sons, John Swan and his wife, Abby, of Maine, and Carl Swan and his wife, Petrina, of Florida; 10 grandchildren, Robert Rinkavage, Timothy Dumschott, Annalee Dumschott, Nicholas Dumschott, Mason Swan, Tyler Swan, Christopher Illiff, William Merwin, Ayden Swan and Carlye Swan, and several great-grandchildren.

John is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Herb Swan and his wife, Barbara, Laura Hadder, Mary Lou Teta, Carl Swan and his wife, Linda, Barbara Merenda, Virginia (Ginny) Wysoczynski, Robert Swan and his wife, Evelyn, Samuel Swan and his partner, Eddie, Jeffrey Waldron and his wife, Pamela, Sandra Brindamour, Linda Mercier, Myron Swan and Edward Swan; stepsisters, Joyce Henderson and Jean Durnell, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, and his fur baby, Dreyfuss.

John was predeceased by his brothers, Edward Swan Jr., Ivan Swan, Thomas Swan, Howard Swan, Richard Swan and Pete Swan; his stepbrother, Robert Taylor; his sisters, Bernice Trower, Eleanor Russo, Agnes Swan and Mildred Knarr.

All services for Mr. Swan will be private.

A Celebration of Life Remembrance for Mr. Swan will be on Dec. 15, 2018 starting at
1 p.m. at 45 Patricia Lane #A, Naugatuck, (Clubhouse).
