PROSPECT — A 22-year-old Waterbury man was killed in a one-car crash on Route 69 Saturday afternoon.
Donovan Nelson, of 1131 Hamilton Ave., Waterbury, was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra C1500 north on Route 69, also known as Waterbury Road, at about 4:15 p.m. when the car veered into the right shoulder of the road near Greenwood Drive, hit a utility pole and rolled onto its side, according to state police.
Nelson, who had to be extricated from the car, suffered fatal injuries in the accident, police said.
A passenger in the car, Katerah Edmundson, 20, of 1131 Hamilton Ave., Waterbury, suffered minor injuries, according to police. Both Nelson and Edmundson were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.
The accident remains under investigation. State police asked anyone with information on the accident to contact Trooper Robert S. Hart at Troop I at 203-393-4200.
