Naugatuck, Beacon Falls and Prospect will get into the holiday spirit sooner rather than later.

Naugatuck is hosting its third annual Ion Bank/Light the Night Street Festival on Saturday.

The festival runs from 3 to 9 p.m. along Church Street between the Naugatuck Green and Rubber Avenue. It will feature local craft and food vendors, ice carving, two bonfires and multiple barrel fires for festival goers to warm up.

Santa Claus will arrive on the Green at 4:30 p.m. to light the Christmas tree. Afterwards, he will he will meet with children so they can tell him what they would like for Christmas.

In addition, the United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls is holding its 12th annual Festival of Trees at Ion Bank, 87 Church St., during the street festival.

Local groups are welcome to sing Christmas carols during the street festival. For information or to sign up to sing Christmas carols, email Terri Takacs at ttakacs@naugatuck-ct.gov.

In Beacon Falls, Beacon Hose Company No. 1 will lead the town’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting celebration on Saturday.

The festivities in town kick off at 6 p.m. at Beacon Falls Town Hall, 10 Maple Ave., followed by stops at St. Michael’s Church and the Beacon Falls Congregational Church before a bonfire and refreshments at the Lewis House, 35 Wolfe Ave.

Prospect will hold its annual Christmas Light Parade next weekend.

The parade steps off at 5 p.m. on Dec. 9 from the Prospect Community Center, 12 Center St. The parade route passes in front of Prospect Town Hall, goes down Waterbury Road to School House Road, turns left on Union City Road, then back to Town Hall, Prospect Mayor Robert Chatfield said.

After the parade, the town will light the Christmas tree and other decorations in front of Town Hall.

Chatfield said anyone who wants to decorate their vehicle in a Christmas theme is welcome to join the parade.

Chatfield said awards will be given out to vehicles in four categories, including the most lights, the best holiday theme, the best overall decorations and the most creative decoration.
