NAUGATUCK — Running unopposed, incumbent Republican state Rep. Rosa Rebimbas cruised to her sixth term representing the 70th House District, which covers the borough’s entire north end and its eastern half.

Rebimbas, 42, was first elected to the House in a special election in 2009. She hasn’t faced a challenge for the seat since.

In an interview before the election, Rebimbas said she dedicates herself to the position regardless of whether she has a challenger, and her focus in her next term will remain jobs, the economy and Naugatuck.

In a Facebook message posted before the election, Rebimbas, a Naugatuck native who works as an attorney in the borough, stated her commitment to Naugatuck residents and the state “is one that I honor and will continue to dedicate myself to. I look forward to working with the new administration and continuing to work with our local elected officials in the best interest of Naugatuck.”
