NAUGATUCK — Eleanor W. Lawson, 101, passed away surrounded by her loving family at the home of her son on Sept. 21, 2018. She was the devoted wife of the late Carl W. Lawson for 39 years.

Mrs. Lawson was born in Naugatuck on Aug. 16, 1917, the daughter Daniel and Mary (Reilly) Walsh. She was predeceased by her brothers, Dan and Bill.

Eleanor graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1935 where she was the class artist and secretary. She was always involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, especially known for her delicious gingerbread boys. She was a den mother, Brownie leader, and CCD instructor.

Eleanor was an active participant of St Francis of Assisi Parish. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening, playing bridge, playing golf, ice skating, vacationing at Cape Cod, and swimming and sailing at Lake Quassapaug. In her later years, she enjoyed quilting and loved watching PGA golf and classic movies on television.

She is survived by her son, Carl W. Lawson, Jr. and his wife, Diane; and her daughter, Mariclare and her husband, Robert Magerowski, of Auburn, Mass. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Natalie Fabian and her husband, Matt, of Westport, Karen Lawson and her husband, Vikram Bakshi , of Fairfield, Mariclare Lawson and her husband, Chris DeAngelis, of Jackson Heights, N.Y., Linda Lawson and her husband, Michael Slimak, of Trumbull, Peter Magerowski and his wife, Jackie, of Worcester, Mass., and Kristen O’Brien and her husband, Steve, of Franklin, Mass. She leaves four great-grandchildren, Will and Tommy Fabian, and Mira and Dylan Bakshi.

Thanks to all the visiting angels, especially Michelle, Kadeeja, Tenneh and Sharieon, for their continuing support and loving care during Eleanor’s last days.

She will be missed by all those who knew her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting with arrangements.
