NAUGATUCK — Gary W. Gerber III, 71, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 in the VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of Kathleen J. (Beardsley) Gerber whom he was married to for 39 years.
Mr. Gerber was born Oct. 6, 1946 in Norwalk, son of the late Gary and Nellie (Allington) Gerber.
Gary was a graduate of Brien McMahon High School, Class of ‘64. Following high school, Gary proudly served in the United States Navy. He was a diesel mechanic prior to his retirement. Mr. Gerber was an avid NASCAR fan, loved his job and camping, and above all love spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife Mr. Gerber is survived by three sons, Mark and his wife, Kim Gerber, of Bridgewater, Mathew and his wife, Cortney Gerber, of Shelton, and Michael and his wife, Michelle Gerber, of Seymour; his sister, Marion (Gerber) Alexander of Seffner, Fla.; grandchildren, Ashlyn Holland, Ava, Aiden, Adalyn, and Jace Gerber, with one more on the way; and his son of heart but not of blood, Jason and his wife, Wendy Carey, of Woodbury.
Calling hours for Gary will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug 2, 2018 at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. A graveside service with full military honors for Mr. Gerber will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2018 at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Ave., Norwalk, CT 06850.
