Police investigating theft of safe

PROSPECT — A burglar made off with a safe containing money, guns, prescription medicine, among other items, from a dentist’s office during the early morning hours on July 4, according to police.

Police reported the burglary occurred at Priceless Dental Care at 60 Waterbury Road. The safe stolen contained personal and professional items, police reported, including $1,500 in cash, prescription pads, registration paperwork for seven guns, paperwork from the 1800s showing the ownership of a slave, two Colt Lady Derringer .22 caliber handguns, one bottle of the prescription medication Halcion, and a bottle of morphine.

Video surveillance showed a man with facial hair wearing a baseball hat and a white Under Armor hoodie enter the building through a back door at about 1:40 a.m., police reported. The footage also showed a small car with a spoiler on the trunk drive around to the back of the building during the same timeframe.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information can call the Prospect Police Department at 203-758-6150.
