Republican incumbent state Rep. Nicole Klarides-Ditria will face a prominent Beacon Falls politician in the 105th District race.

Klarides-Ditria, a 49-year-old Seymour resident, won her first term representing the district, which covers Beacon Falls, Seymour and part of Derby, in 2016.

Klarides-Ditria said she was honored to receive the endorsement to run for re-election.

“It means that my constituents have the faith in me and want to send me back to Hartford,” Klarides-Ditria said.

Klarides-Ditria, an athletic trainer at Lauralton Hall High School in Milford, also serves as the football trainer for Seymour High School. In addition, Klarides-Ditria said she is involved in the day-to-day operations of her family’s business, Klarides Family Associates.

Kevin McDuffie

Klarides-Ditria is facing a challenge from Democrat Kevin McDuffie, who received his party’s endorsement, in the November election.

McDuffie, a Beacon Falls resident, is a member of the Beacon Falls Democratic Town Committee and the chairman of the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission. McDuffie didn’t return messages seeking comment as of this post.

In the time she’s been in office, Klarides-Ditria said she has worked to pass budget reforms, prioritized spending, and helped residents by passing the Medicare savings program.

Although she feels like she has already accomplished a lot, Klarides-Ditria said there is more to do.

“There is still more work to be done, and I am not done with the goals I set for myself,” Klarides-Ditria said.

  1. Congratulations to Rep Klarides-Ditria on a very successful first term. I fully endorse her for a second term.

As to her possible opponent, I have been told that Mr. McDuffie has announced to the DTC that he is withdrawing from the campaign (source: DTC Chairman Peter Betkoski and others).
