PROSPECT — The town is hoping for some big pumpkins come the fall.

Next week, the town will give Connecticut Field pumpkin seeds to students at prospect Elementary School and Long River Middle School. Mayor Robert Chatfield said the students are invited to grow the pumpkins — the seeds have to be planted in late spring — and bring their pumpkins to the Pumpkin Festival in October for a contest to see who grew the largest pumpkin.

Chatfield said any extra seeds will be given out to residents and the town may hold an adult competition at the festival as well. For more information, contact the mayor’s office at Town Hall at 203-758-4461.
