Letter: Towns may be better off without senators

To the editor,

I see that Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., was right there for the people of Oxford, Southbury, etc., when the May 15 storm was over. It didn’t take long for Blumenthal and his bag handler, Sen. Christopher S. Murphy, D-Conn., to get on a plane and head for Puerto Rico at taxpayers’ expense. Maybe we were better off in our towns without them. After nine months and an estimated 4,000 dead, Puerto Rico’s electrical system still has not been repaired. It took eight to 10 days here.

I don’t know why Blumenthal can’t start paying for his own photo-ops. Out of 535 Congress members, Blumenthal was ranked ninth in net worth, with $70 million. Rep. Rosa L. DeLauro, D-3rd District, was ranked 73rd, with $4.6 million; Rep. James Himes, D-4th District, 102nd, with $2.9 million; and Murphy, 525th, with $0.7 million.

I also tried to get Blumenthal to help me, a 76-year senior citizen, who was having trouble with a bank losing my personal information and taking one year before notifying me or my wife about it. I got no help from him, not even a photo-op.

  1. Blumenthal is a self serving phoney. Don’t expect any actual work coming from him or his puppet Murphy. Just hot air and BS
