Whittemore Library announces may exhibit

NAUGATUCK — The Whittemore Library is featuring the artwork of Dorothy Calio this month in an exhibit titled “May Flowers.”

Calio, of Oxford, began her professional career working as a graphic designer before pursuing a teaching career in the Westchester, N.Y. school system, a press release stated. She also worked as a painting instructor on luxury cruise lines for 20 years.

Calio holds a Bachelor of Fines Arts degree from The Pratt Institute as well as a Master of Art in art education from The College of New Rochelle in New York. She is a member of The Washington Art Association and she studies with Ira Barkoff, a contemporary abstract landscape artist affiliated with the WAA, the release stated.

This month’s exhibit features small to medium-sized floral and foliage oil paintings can be viewed during regular hours at the library, 243 Church St. For more information, call 203-729-4591.
