OXFORD — Delores Marie Popowski, 72, of Oxford, entered into eternal rest unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, April 8, 2018. She was born in Derby on Nov. 5, 1945, beloved daughter of the late Theodore J. and Bertha Wisneski Kastejna.
Delores was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd. She was a graduate of Bullard Haven Technical School of Bridgeport and was a member of the Oxford Senior Center. Delores worked in the housekeeping department of Griffin Hospital for many years prior to her retirement in 2016. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends and will forever remain in our hearts.
Her loving family includes her cherished daughter, Theresa “Terri” Popowski of Seymour; her caring sister, Barbara Downs (John, Sr.) of Oxford; her two loving nephews, John Downs, Jr. (Bobbie) of Oxford and Kevin Downs of Fort Worth, Texas; her cherished grandniece and three cherished grandnephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Delores’s life will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment in the family plot at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour, will follow. Friends and relatives may call at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (Route 67 across from Klarides Village), Seymour, on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 4 until 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions in memory of Delores may be made to the Oxford Ambulance Association or the Church of the Good Shepherd Improvement Fund through the funeral home.
