Naugatuck Portuguese Club

NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck Portuguese Club is offering three scholarships to students whose parents or guardians are members of the club.

Applicants must be completing their senior year at an accredited high school in Connecticut and planning to attend a two- or four-year school of high education. Applications are available at the club, 110 Rubber Ave., or by contacting Julie Jannetty at juliejannetty728@gmail.com or 860-483-0144. Completed applications must be postmarked by April 13.

Tate College Scholarship

NAUGATUCK — Applications are being accepted for the Dr. Curtis E. Tate College Scholarship.

Tate, who was a family physician and martial artist, died in February 1998. He was one of the first members of USA Martial Arts. The scholarship is intended to provide financial aid to a qualifying USA Martial Arts student or child of a student of USA Martial Arts, and $1,500 is awarded.

The scholarship must be used to further a student’s college education and must be applied to school expenses in the year in which it is received.

Eligibility requirements include being a current member or child of a current member of USA Martial Arts in Naugatuck or Woodbury or one of its park and recreation programs for at least two years. Applicants must be accepted by or attending an accredited college. Applications will be accepted until April 7 at 12 p.m. and must be postmarked no later than April 4. Prospect Scholarship Foundation

PROSPECT — The Prospect Scholarship Foundation is offering two $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors from Prospect who are attending a post-secondary school in 2018.

The foundation will determine its awards for both scholarships based on a combination of academic achievement, character, demonstrated leadership, community service and participation in school activities. Financial need is also a consideration for one of the scholarships.

Applications are available at the Prospect Business Association’s website, prospectbusiness.org. Woodland Regional High School students can also apply though the school’s guidance office. Applications must be postmarked on or before March 23.
