To the editor,
Raising the age requirement to purchase a long gun is stupid. When we are involved in a war, 18-year-olds are old enough to fight and die for us but they are too young to go shoot a rabbit.
The only thing we need are watch lists of folks that have exhibited mental problems or instabilities. But to single them out would be considered politically incorrect. This is our fault.
All schools and police organizations should maintain such lists and freely exchange their data.
