NAUGATUCK — Borough firefighters made quick work extinguishing a bedroom fire Saturday afternoon.

That fire was contained to the room of origin — a bedroom on the second floor of a single family colonial-style home at 22 Beech St., Fire Lt. Jason Seaman said Sunday.

Borough firefighters responded to the blaze with their normal assignment of two fire engines and a ladder truck, with eight firefighters and an off-duty deputy chief. Mutual aid from Beacon Falls and Waterbury was originally requested, but called off after firefighters quickly quelled the fire.

Meanwhile, firefighters from Prospect provided station coverage, Seaman said.

Seaman said the borough’s fire marshal was called to investigate, but had not determined the cause as of Sunday afternoon.
