NAUGATUCK —The Board of Education this month approved four new courses at Naugatuck High School for the 2018-19 school year.

The classes include Matter and Motion, which allows students to study chemistry and physics concepts, and musical theatre II, which is an extension of music theater I.

The other classes — human rights and college accounting — are Early College Experience courses that allow students to earn college credit.

The human rights course is a University of Connecticut course and will cost students $150.

College accounting will allow students to earn college credit through the University of Bridgeport.

Curriculum Director Caroline Messenger said the textbooks for the accounting course will cost $5,625 and be purchased from this year’s budget.

In addition to the new classes, the high school will stop offering Italian to incoming students.
