Robert Vincent Deptula Sr.

NAUGATUCK — Robert Vincent “Bob” Deptula, Sr., 81, passed away on Jan. 2, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Bob was born on Oct. 7, 1936 in Waterbury, a son of the late Estelle Deptula-Bellucci and his step-father Albert Bellucci. Bob was a lifelong Naugatuck resident and he attended Kaynor Tech High School in Waterbury. Bob worked as a bartender at Rudy’s Restaurant; he was the former owner and bartender of the Dutch Front Cafe; he did utility work for the Bristol Company and he retired from Platt Brothers in Waterbury. Bob was a member of the Polish American Club, and enjoyed listening to music, sitting on the Naugatuck green reminiscing about years past, visiting all of his favorite local spots and bumping into all of his old friends.

Bob is survived by his son, Robert Deptula, Jr. and his wife, Debra, of Naugatuck; his daughter, Michelle Deptula and her boyfriend, Dave Hill, of Oxford; his step-children, Alex “Skip” Zonas and his wife, Kimberley, of Plymouth, and Theresa Sagendorf and her husband, Alfred, of Naugatuck; his brother, Alan Bellucci and his wife, Fran, of Thomaston; his grandchildren, Katelyn Deptula, Joshua Deptula, Nicholas Deptula, Nathan Deptula all of Naugatuck, and Carly Deptula of Southbury; his great granddaughter, Lilliana Deptula of Naugatuck; his nieces, Paula Bellucci of Morris and Angela Bellucci-Grendzisiewski of Thomaston, and many close friends in Naugatuck.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
