NAUGATUCK — Joseph S. Centinaro, 88, husband of the late Barbara M. (Miller) Centinaro, died peacefully on Jan. 12, 2018 in the VITAS Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Joseph was born on March 29, 1929 in Waterbury, a son of the late Charles and Jenny (DiNova) Centinaro, and was a retired truck driver.

Joseph is survived his daughter, Christine Johnson and her husband, David, of Naugatuck; his son, Chris Darcy and his wife, Beryl, of Orlando, Fla.; his four grandchildren, Rebecca Michaud, Jessica Johnson, David J. Johnson and Meghan Ballough; his five great-grandchildren, Skyler Michaud, Alan Boucher, Jaylynn Michaud, Starlett Michaud and Alaina Ballough, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Joseph was predeceased by his son, James Rhoades; his brothers, Thomas, Vincent and Charles Centinaro, and his sister, Connie Bernardi.

Services are private and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
