NAUGATUCK — The Whittemore Library recently received two grants to support programs for youth.

The Connecticut Community Foundation awarded the library a $3,000 grant to support a creative writing project for teens called “Young & Published.” The project will build on the library’s Young Writers program, and include monthly visits from authors and professional writers and regular writing workshops. At the end of the project, the writers will self-publish an anthology of their work.

The Ion Bank Foundation awarded the library a $1,400 grant to support a project for young readers called “Read with Your Ears.” The project will enable the library to buy audiobooks for children and young adults. New audiobooks on CD will be added to the library each month.
