Flu shots available at health district

SEYMOUR — The Naugatuck Valley Health District has flu shots available for residents.

The Connecticut Department of Public Health reported that there has been a steep increase in the number of Connecticut residents who have been hospitalized with influenza over recent weeks, a press release stated.

This year’s flu virus has thus far been particularly severe among people ages 65 and older, the release stated, and that age group has accounted for 70 percent of all patients who have been hospitalized with influenza, the release stated.

The Naugatuck Valley Health District serves six Valley municipalities, including Beacon Falls and Naugatuck. Flu shots are available at the health district, 98 Bank St., by appointment. To make an appointment, call 203-881-3255.
