PROSPECT — The Volunteer Fire Department of Prospect’s Christmas tree bonfire set for Saturday has been postponed due to the forecast of rain.

The bonfire is now Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. on the field on Center Street next to the Prospect Library, weather permitting. Residents can drop their trees off at the field at any point before the bonfire.

The Volunteer Fire Department of Prospect will burn the trees, and residents are welcome to come by to enjoy the fire and roast some marshmallows. Marshmallows will be available, but people have to provide their own roasting stick.

During the bonfire, members of the fire department will demonstrate how fast a dry Christmas tree can catch fire and burn.
