Letter: Emergency response was exceptional

To the editor,

We are truly blessed to be residents of Beacon Falls. Last month, I suffered a medical emergency. My wife called 911 and the response was immediate. She was told that help was on the way and was given further instructions to be done prior to their arrival. Within a few short minutes, there were two police officers at our door followed by Beacon Hose Co. No. 1 EMTs and two ambulances. The EMTs knew immediately what the issue was and got me into the ambulance, started treatment and transported me to Waterbury Hospital upon our request.

We were shocked to see that the emergency department was waiting for us, and within minutes, the first of several procedures was underway.

In the almost 11 years that we’ve been Beacon Falls residents, this was the first time we ever needed an emergency response. Beacon Hose Co. No. 1, is without question the best that can be imagined. They were fast, courteous, compassionate and professional.

This was our first experience with Waterbury Hospital. We’ve had other hospital experiences over the years, and I have nothing but high praise for the care I received at Waterbury Hospital. The entire staff, from the doctors, aides, x-ray technicians and especially the nurses in the cardiac intensive care unit was exemplary.

It is with heartfelt gratitude that I thank Beacon Hose Co. No. 1 and Waterbury Hospital for their outstanding service in providing a positive outcome.
