BEACON FALLS — The town sold three properties at a tax sale last week.

The owners of the properties up for sale all owed back taxes to the town. The property at 215 South Main St. sold for $60,912 to Shqiponja Kuka. The property at 11 Fairfield Place was bought by Jonathan Gorman for $19,165, and 107 South Main St. sold for $15,410 to Ramazan Trepca, Arber Kuka and Atdhe Trepca, Tax Collector Mary Anne Holloway said.

The owners of two other properties — the River’s Edge Pub and Grille at 29 North Main St. and a home at 555 Skokorat St. — slated for sale paid the back taxes owed before the auction, Holloway said.

Holloway said altogether the town recouped $141,902 in back taxes from the five properties.

A sixth property, located at 49 Hubbell Ave., was also up for sale for nearly $50,000. Holloway said the town only got one bid, which didn’t meet the minimum the town was willing to accept, on the property. The property is slated to be brought to another tax sale on Nov. 16, she said.

The owners of the three properties sold at the auction have six months from the auction date to pay all back taxes and associated legal fees, Holloway said. If they do so, they will retain their properties.

First Selectman Christopher Bielik said he hopes that the current owners will be able to make the necessary payments.

“We don’t want to see anybody leave. The hope is always that anybody in that situation will find a way to continue operation,” Bielik said.
