PROSPECT — The town will get in the autumn spirit on Saturday with the 14th annual Pumpkin Festival.

“It’s the last social activity of the fall,” Mayor Robert Chatfield said.

The festival runs from 4 to 8 p.m. on the Town Green on Center Street. Admission is free.

The festival will feature a haunted hayride, dancing, a haunted house, and craft and food vendors. There will also be a hay bale rolling contest with the winner getting $500.

A costume and vehicle parade will step off at 5:45 p.m. from Chandler Road. Anyone who wants to participate in the parade is welcome.

The parade will be led by the St. Peter’s Drum Corps and will feature a number of Halloween-themed floats, Chatfield said. The parade will stop in front of Town Hall to allow children in costumes to join in, he said.

Pumpkins that were decorated by Prospect Elementary School and Long River Middle School students will be on display around the Green. Judges will award ribbons to the top three pumpkins in each grade level, Chatfield said.
