PROSPECT — Robert E. Cronin, 83, the husband of the late Joan A. (Norton) Cronin, died peacefully on Oct. 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born in Manhattan, N.Y., a son of the late Edward and Margaret Cronin of Waterbury, and had lived in Naugatuck for most of his life, before moving to Prospect. Bob was a United States Navy veteran. Bob retired from the chemical division of Uniroyal, Inc. where he had worked as a foreman. Bob enjoyed playing golf and being outside, and he especially loved spending time with his family and friends. Bob was a former member and chairman of the Naugatuck Police Commission. Bob was a life member of the Naugatuck B.P.O. Elks, #967.

Bob is survived by his sons, Robert D. Cronin of West Hartford, Alton L. Cronin and his wife, Kelly, of Prospect, and Sean Cronin and his husband, Christian Andresen, of Bloomfield; his daughters, Kathryn Davey and her husband, Jeffrey, of Naugatuck, Colleen Cidela and her husband, Joseph, of Waterbury, Margaret Cronin of Naugatuck, and Suzanne Macary and her husband, Mark, of Northfield; his nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and his cousin, Robert Wills, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Everyone attending is asked to please go directly to church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours, and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
