PROSPECT — Eleanor B. Wallenta, 74, the widow of Kenneth Wallenta, died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Eleanor was born on June 2, 1943 in Sharon, and she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Mary McCann. Eleanor grew up and lived most of her life on Rubber Avenue in Naugatuck, with her parents and her six brothers. Eleanor had recently retired, after having worked for 55 years at Timex and UTC. Eleanor loved spending time with her family and she enjoyed shopping, especially thrift shopping.

Eleanor is survived by her son, Marshall Wallenta of Prospect; her daughters, Lynda Geraci of Branford and Mary Buckley of Watertown; her grandchildren, Marissa Bray and her husband, Stephen Bray, Melinda Geraci, Lauren Wallenta, Alicia Wallenta, Zachary Wallenta, Michael Buckley, Erin Buckley and Nora Buckley; her great-grandchildren, Camden Bray and Payton Bray.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Everyone attending is kindly asked to please meet at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours, and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.

In lieu of flowers and to honor Eleanor’s memory, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
