To the editor,
I am writing this letter to endorse Carl Cicchetti, a petitioning candidate endorsed by the Democratic Party for Town Council in Prospect.
I am a 14-year resident of the town of Prospect, and I have known Carl and his family for almost as long. I should note that I am a registered Republican and I am a big fan of Mayor Bob Chatfield. I have always voted the party line, but I’m making a few exceptions this year, and one of those exceptions will be made for Carl.
Carl is new to the local political arena, but I would suggest that your readers review his curriculum vitae and they will quickly understand why he is well-suited for the office. I also feel that it’s good to have balance in town government. I can’t think of a person better suited to bring people together to work towards a common goal than Carl.
Carl and I shared coaching responsibilities for our children’s Prospect Soccer Club’s team a number of years ago. During that season, he demonstrated patience, consistency and a light-hardheartedness which made impressionable children enjoy playing for us. His children are all high achievers because he and his wife foster that kind of environment in their home.
Anyone who meets Carl and who spends ten minutes with him will walk away feeling they had made a friend. That’s another trait Carl possesses in spades: loyalty. I only know of one other person in my life who has the steadfast traits of loyalty like those which Carl possesses. I also believe that Carl is very centered politically. I derive this from the many conversations we’ve had over the years. This is one of the reasons I feel good about getting behind his candidacy.
