PROSPECT — Residents can dispose of hazardous waste Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the public works garage, 221 Cheshire Road.
Hazardous waste that will be accepted include non-empty aerosol cans, household batteries, household cleaners, pool and photographic chemicals, pesticides, fertilizers, motor oil, antifreeze, and oil-based paint, varnishes, shellac, stains, thinners and paint strippers.
Hazardous waste that will not be accepted include latex paint, propane tanks, empty aerosol cans, medicines, ammunition, explosives, commercial waste, smoke detectors, radioactive materials, tires, appliances, and fire extinguishers. No waste from businesses will be accepted.
Residents are asked to make sure the products are sealed and packed in a sturdy crate or cardboard box. A photo identification is required to drop off waste. There is a 5-gallon limit per person.
