Maureen D. Marzano

NAUGATUCK — Maureen D. Marzano, 74, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 at her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of Michael D. Marzano, Sr.

Maureen was born May 27, 1943 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late James and Veronica “Jane” (Cahill) Dowling. She was a longtime Naugatuck resident moving from Waterbury in 1975. She had worked for many years as a supervisor for Pitney Bowes.

Besides her husband of 52 years, Maureen is survived by her daughters, Lisa McPhee and her husband, Will, of Cheshire, Nancy DeFranzo and her husband, Paul, of North Carolina; her son, Michael D. Marzano, Jr. of Naugatuck; and her six beautiful grandchildren, Dakota, Mason, Sarah, Michael, Isabella and Riley. She also leaves her sisters, Julianne Murphy of Naugatuck, Betty Jane DiMasso and her husband, Ralph, of Waterbury, and Rosemary O’Malley and her husband, Ed, of Danbury; brother-in-law, Vincent Marzano; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Marzano, Francine Fox; Aunt Jennie Hannon of Cheshire, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brother and sister, Buddy and Kate Dowling.

“Moe,” how she was known to most, was loved and admired by her family and friends. She was unique, distinctive and lived life on her terms. An avid reader, lover of books and the news, she was a die-hard republican who would take every opportunity to talk politics with all around her. She looked forward to annual trips to Saratoga to watch the horse races, visiting the casino, cruising and vacationing both here and abroad with her husband and best friends, and some days spending time being at home, reading and enjoying good weather. Moe loved to spend time with her family, cooking, laughing and entertaining, and would never miss an opportunity to spend time with her beloved grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire at 10 a.m. Friends are asked to meet directly at church.
