NAUGATUCK — As peaches come into season, so does St. Michael’s Episcopal Church’s annual Village Green Fair.
The fair returns for its 58th year this weekend. The fair is open from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday on the Naugatuck Green.
The fair will feature vendors, book signings by local author Jerry Labriola, an antique car show, an art show and sale, a variety of games for children, and live music by classic rock cover band Riverjack on Friday and guitarist Bob Semanchik on Saturday.
“There is a little bit of everything,” Parish Administrator Kathy Carten said.
The highlight of the fair, though, is the homemade peach shortcake available inside the church.
“Everything is really from scratch. It is a lot of work. But people will come down both days for this,” said Carten about the shortcake.
Carten said the fair has been around for nearly six decades because it fosters a hometown feeling and allows people to meet up with other residents of Naugatuck.
“What is kind of neat to hear is that people will bring their kids because their parents brought them,” Carten said.
