NAUGATUCK — A 27-year-old woman died after her vehicle struck a utility pole early Sunday morning.

Police said Brittany Schuld, 27, of Naugatuck, was driving westbound near 994 May St. at around 12:50 a.m. Sunday when her car veered off the right shoulder of the roadway and struck the utility pole.

Schuld, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was the vehicle’s sole occupant. No other vehicles were involved.

The crash resulted in electrical power outages in the area. That power has since been restored, police said.

Naugatuck police spokesman Lt. Bryan Cammarata said in a news release that the Naugatuck Valley Collision Investigation Team, which comprises officers from the Naugatuck, Cheshire, Middlebury, Watertown and Wolcott, was called to investigate the crash.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. Police ask that anyone with information on the crash contact the department at 203-729-5222.
