NAUGATUCK — Maria R. (Rebelo) Nata, 92, died peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017 at Beacon Brook Health Center with her loving family at her side.
Maria was born in Quintas Do Norte, Portugal, on Feb. 20, 1925, daughter of the late Sebastiao and Maria Jose (Oliveira) Rebelo. Maria loved many things including gardening, sewing and cooking for her family. Maria was most of all proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, they were her world.
Maria is survived by her daughters, Ana Fallon and husband, Jim, Connie Chipelo and husband, John, Maria Fonseca, Linda Moutinho and husband, Val; her son, Francisco Nata and wife, Doris; her son-in-law Zeca DeMatos; her 14 grandchildren; and her 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Maria goes to join her daughter, Albertina DeMatos, and her son-in-law, Agostinho Fronseca.
Maria’s family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses, caretakers and staff members at Beacon Brook who cared for her, especially Damaris, Jay, Diane, Jahara, Helena, Victor, Carolyn and Deliann.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin St., Waterbury. Everyone is kindly asked to go directly to church. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
